Jesus teaches his worldly adversaries, the Pharisees, which is not typical or traditional. Last week I talked about setting traditions aside to become more inclusive as a community. That theme continues this week, but we must remember all people can be served. Not just the poor, sick, and marginalized. Sometimes to elicit change, we have to minister to government officials, other leaders in society, and sometimes even the leaders in faith communities. From time to time in our lives, we need help because of our situations or our ideas about loving others. All people, no matter who or where in life they are, can be ministered to. We must remember to do this respectfully and without judging people. Jesus loves all people, even those who speak against him. We need to do the same thing.
